I remember how awesome the opening scene was the first time I saw Star Wars. I thought the first ship, obviously in some running battle, was pretty cool, but when the Star Destroyer appeared, and kept appearing, it was awesome.

The plot of Star Wars (1977) is rather close to Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress (1958).
