Parallel Visions: City of Angels City of Demons ebook and trade paperback available on Amazon (or here).
The question of whether Vance was dead or not became more than academic when he found himself in a bathtub up to his chin in ice water like some forgotten cocktail garnish, a demonic woman standing over him, and no memory of how he got there.

I enjoyed Midnight Riot (2011) by Ben Aaronovitch more than I had expected to. Quite a bit more, in fact. These days, it's rare for me to find a fantasy novel that I like. The author seems to know his way around both London and the London police force. I will be reading the sequel.  (e)

Children of Time (2015) by Adrian Tchaikovsky is a well crafted, reasonably hard science fiction novel with appealing characters, excellent world building, and a nice twist at the end. I recommend for all SF fans that don't have arachnophobia. If it has a flaw, and I'll not this is a minor flaw, it was that I was occasionally pulled out of the flow by the use metaphors, similes, and cultural references that would never have worked for the spider viewpoint characters. This would be like characters who grew up in the desert making surfing references. (e)
