The question of whether Vance was dead or not became more than academic when he found himself in a bathtub up to his chin in ice water like some forgotten cocktail garnish, a demonic woman standing over him, and no memory of how he got there.

Description

A short story about Angst Gryphon and Gyr Evenstar and the "Incident on the Boulevard of Mirrors".

Angst Gryphon's debut short story.

  • Series: A Chronicle from the Nexus
  • Main Character: Angst Gryphon
  • When: Year 824 TE9
  • Where: The city of Spire
  • Length: short story
  • Status: Beta Phase
  • History: This story has been around for quite a while in one form or another. The original version dates back to 1994 or so and was the second short story (not quite flash fiction at 1400 words) that I completed (not counting one or two that I wrote back in high school). I was encouraged to use it in Tactics by Lane W. a year or so ago and it became the ToT's prologue after being "modernized" (i.e. made concurrent with the world building in the Chronicles from the Nexus) and transformed from 1st to 3rd person. I had been thinking about converting it back into 1st person and making a short story out of it for quite a while now. Which is where I am now with it. Re-written, going into another round of polishing after beta-reader feedback and then off to market.

A short story by Fritz Freiheit.
