The Red Rook cover almost done

Here’s another sneak peak in The Red Rook, the sequel to Dispensing Justice and the second in the Nova Genesis World series, as it draws closer to publication. This time, I’m putting the cover on display. With The Red Rook I’m introducing a new style of cover for the Nova Genesis series (see novagenesis:Dispensing Justice cover design for the in progress work on Dispensing Justice). If you are interested in seeing the sequence of designs that lead to this one, check out novagenesis:The Red Rook cover design.

Feedback and comments on the The Red Rook‘s cover are appreciated.

Wiki version

Megamind Megafun!

Taking a few hours away from my push to complete Dispensing Justice I went to see Megamind yesterday and was megapleased with it. It was the best supervillain movie that I have seen to date (Despicable Me being my second choice), although The Incredibles remains my favorite superhero film. In the pantheon of movies from 2010, Megamind rocks!

Megamind hits all the right notes, at least if you are interested in an action packed, animated spectacle. Did I mention that it was funny and sweet, too? I should note that I didn’t see the 3D version, but I plan on going back for just that. The only other movie to draw me back to the theatre this year was RED.

Megamind is well plotted, has excellent characterization, ripping dialogue, and engrossing world building. Megamind was fine tuned down to within an inch of its life. And in a good way. It even managed to surprise me a couple of times.

Bottom line, run, don’t walk, to the theatre and see Megamind.

Submitted “All You Quantum Zombies”

I’ve submitted ”All You Quantum Zombies” to the Ann Arbor Book Fair Short Story Contest and am trying to put enough polish on my heavily tweaked ”Stealing a Seed of the Giving-Tree” in time to get it in by midnight.  It’s a bit dicey as to whether or not I’ll get it into shape and within the word count (you can guess which of those is more difficult for me).  Nose to the grind-stone and no writers’ group for me tonight.

FoWaG barf draft finished

Just finished up the barf phase draft of “Fortress of Wind and Glass”. Came in about fifty percent longer than I had originally projected at a bit over 15,000 words. Doesn’t look like I’ll finish the first polish pass by the end of November, but should have it done by the 7th of December.
