Last night I pulled out a copy Fredric Brown's Angels & Spaceships that I  bought recently in order to better study the art of short story writing.  Fredric Brown was suggested as being one of the master short story writers in SF, and after finishing the first two stories I have to say, yes, Fredric Brown is rather a good short story writer.  But I will have to do much more research to really have strong opinion on the matter.

I’ve started a wiki page here as launching and collection point for my research into this question.  (I’ll also include a link to this related page, Notes on establishing a personal canonical collection of short stories.)

What is your opinion?  Who is the best short story writer?
