Xkcd has what I can only say is a brilliant rendition of  the narrative-character timelines for a number movies, including “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “Star Wars” (the original) trilogy, and “Jurassic Park”.  Click on the image for the full-size version.

This makes me want to go and create a version for my novel, or even the intertwining short stories of of the Chronicles.
